The challenge
A full-service Nairobi firm ranked its own pain plainly: billing and fee-note follow-up first — have we billed, has he paid, what's left, do we bill the next stage? — then the drafting-and-review loop, a manual master diary kept by one person, research done twice because nothing was reusable, and delegation with no follow-through. No practice-management tool on the market speaks the Advocates Remuneration Order scale, M-Pesa, KRA eTIMS or Kenyan case law, so firms were being asked to bend their practice around foreign software.
What we delivered
The build
- 01Kumbuka, the firm's bRRAIn — one assistant in three modes (ask, research, draft), grounded in the firm's own matters, billing and precedents, with every interaction remembered so the system compounds.
- 02Live grounding in the official Kenya Law database — answers cite neutral citation, court, year and outcome with links to the judgment, and the assistant refuses rather than invent a citation.
- 03A Kenyan legal standards layer — the advocate's voice and drafting discipline plus 22 document types across conveyancing, corporate, litigation and succession, each with structure, clauses, statutes and execution blocks.
- 04The money loop, end to end: a 12-stage matter pipeline, stage fee notes on the ARO scale, WIP and ageing, KRA eTIMS stamping, and an M-Pesa pay link that auto-reconciles the invoice to PAID.
- 05An intake firehose with a human in the loop — email, WhatsApp, voice notes and scanned paper; vision OCR extracts structured fields into a review queue, and nothing is filed to a matter until an advocate accepts it.
- 06Multi-tenant SaaS: isolated per-firm workspaces, credentialed authentication, a platform admin console with impersonation, a self-serve onboarding wizard, and a password-protected client portal.

Results
- ✓Live at iuria.tech with three Nairobi firms on the platform; cross-firm isolation proven in production — a matter URL from one firm correctly 404s for another.
- ✓The full get-paid loop runs end to end: issue the fee note, stamp it with eTIMS, share the pay link, the client pays by M-Pesa, and the invoice reconciles itself.
- ✓Grounded rather than generative — every answer cites the firm's own records or a real Kenya Law judgment, and the guardrails keep it assisting the advocate rather than advising the client.
- ✓Built as a repeatable product, not a one-off: the flagship firm is a reference deployment, and new firms self-onboard through a seven-step wizard in about a fortnight.
